Shortlist Solar started because of a problem we kept watching from inside the industry: lead directories that auction every homeowner to the cheapest bidder, regardless of install quality. The problem was never the hardware — it was the routing. Shortlist Solar is the alternative path: vet the installers first, cap routing at three per inquiry, cite every claim.

What we won't compromise on

Installer quality first: Every installer we onboard is vetted — typically 2+ years in business with a track record of decent reviews. The aim is to match homeowners with installers who can quote properly specified systems — not build another public directory.
Maximum 3 installers, ever: Every inquiry is routed to a maximum of 3 vetted installers, and the same address never re-enters the pool above that cap. No installer-rep races. No spam follow-up from companies you didn’t pick.
Sources or it didn’t happen: Every incentive figure, every warranty claim, every brand spec on this site traces back to a primary source. If we can’t cite it, we don’t write it. Marketing-puffed numbers get a homeowner the wrong system at the wrong price.

What we do

Vet installers against a quality and trading-history standard before they’re live on the platform
Route every inquiry to a maximum of 3 installers, exclusively, with no resharing
Cite primary sources for every incentive, warranty, and brand claim on the site
Match brand-interested inquiries (e.g. Tesla, FranklinWH, Enphase) to certified installers first
Never count a genuinely uncontactable or unsuitable lead against an installer
