Anker SOLIX X1 review
Permanent home storage with modular batteries. It is a different purchase from Anker’s portable power products.

Our take
X1 is worth comparing when you want a permanently installed modular storage system with a defined manufacturer platform. Its slim, stacked format is visually appealing, but the useful comparison is the complete US configuration: power module, battery modules and backup controller. Anker’s portable-product reputation is not a substitute for evaluating installation and long-term home-energy support.
X1 at a glance
Check the model in your quote against these published details.
| Battery module energy | 5 kWh [2] |
|---|---|
| Published configuration | Up to 6 battery modules per power module [2] |
| Product type | Permanently installed home energy storage [1] |
| US limited warranty | 10 years, with capacity and throughput conditions [3] |
Capacity, continuous output and peak output measure different things. Compare like-for-like values for the complete configuration.
What is included in the system?
The X1 power module and battery modules form the storage assembly; the backup controller and associated electrical equipment determine its connection to the home. Identify all three roles in the proposal. A rendering of a tall X1 stack does not establish the module count supplied. The US documentation should be used rather than specifications for an international X1 version.
Conceptual energy flow. The equipment and connections depend on the installation.
What can it power during an outage?
The power module sets an output limit, while the battery configuration and charge level affect what can be delivered. Ask for the battery-only rating and a circuit-level backup plan. Large appliances may require load management. The correct configuration is the one that supports your priorities during an outage, rather than the one with the most modules in a brochure.
A high power rating does not guarantee a long runtime. Backup duration also depends on charge level, reserve settings, appliance use and available solar.
Existing solar and future expansion
Adding storage to a home with panels
Adding X1 to an existing solar installation requires an assessment of its inverter and the supported connection method. Ask whether existing equipment stays and how it behaves when the utility is disconnected. A new solar project should compare the complete solar-and-storage layout, including the number of enclosures and their installation positions.
Planning for more capacity
A modular stack makes later capacity attractive, but the expansion rules still matter. Confirm the permitted module combination, age requirements and commissioning process. Extra battery modules primarily address stored energy; increasing household output can require additional power equipment. Document the intended final configuration so the initial electrical work supports it.
The advantages and the trade-offs
Reasons to shortlist it
- Battery modules can be sized around a supported X1 configuration.
- Dedicated US installation and technical documents.
- A coordinated power-module, storage and control platform.
What to weigh up
- A permanent X1 installation requires the appropriate electrical design and installer.
- More battery modules do not necessarily mean more inverter output.
- Portable Anker products have different functions and warranty terms.
Warranty, monitoring and support
The US warranty includes capacity and energy-throughput conditions, and it distinguishes product coverage from service expenses. Ask who handles diagnosis, site visits and replacement labor. Keep the X1 warranty rather than a general Anker warranty page. At handover, confirm monitoring access, reserve settings and the process for support if the original installer is unavailable.
A useful handover includes your equipment schedule, the applicable warranty documents, homeowner access to monitoring and a named service contact. Ask the installer to demonstrate the operating mode you are buying.
What affects the installed cost?
Compare the power module, battery modules, backup controller and all installation work. A module-only price is not comparable with a completed home battery installation. Include mounting, cable routes, panel changes and commissioning, and separate any financing offer from the equipment scope.
| Equipment | Battery quantity, inverter, gateway or transfer equipment and mounting |
|---|---|
| Electrical work | Panel changes, cable routes, protection and backed-up circuits |
| Delivery | Permits, installation, commissioning and monitoring handover |
| Aftercare | Workmanship cover, diagnostic visits and replacement labor |
Is X1 right for your home?
Shortlist X1 for a permanent installation where the supported configuration meets your load plan and a qualified installer owns the aftercare. If your needs are temporary or limited to portable devices, compare a portable product on its own terms. X1 is a home electrical project, with different capabilities and responsibilities.

Your questions, answered
Is X1 a portable power station?
No. It is a permanently installed home storage system.
Does a taller stack mean higher AC output?
Not necessarily. Battery modules add energy; output also depends on the power module and supported configuration.
Does the ten-year warranty cover every service expense?
Do not assume that. Read the US warranty and ask about diagnostics, visits and replacement labor.
Sources and review method
This is a research-based assessment of published manufacturer information, not a hands-on laboratory test or an owner-review average. Our judgments explain the buying implications of the equipment and its limitations. We do not assign star ratings, invent installation prices or infer local installer availability from a product page.
Check the current US model, configuration and warranty before ordering. Where regional compatibility or terms could not be established, we say so in the review. Shortlist Solar is an installer referral service; a quote request is optional and subject to participating-installer availability.
