Qcells Q.HOME CORE G3 review
An AC-coupled system with a long published warranty. Check that the quote is for G3, because earlier Q.HOME products differ.

Our take
Q.HOME CORE G3 is worth comparing if you want an AC-coupled battery system with a defined Qcells control platform. The current US product starts at about 13.1 kWh and has a documented expansion arrangement. Its long warranty is attractive, but generation matters: specifications and warranty terms from earlier Q.HOME CORE systems should not be mixed into a G3 proposal.

Capacity, continuous output and peak output measure different things. Compare like-for-like values for the complete configuration.
What is included in the system?
The G3 battery operates as part of a Qcells energy storage and control arrangement. The hub and other equipment must match the intended backup and expansion configuration. Ask the installer to identify the battery, hub and metering explicitly. A quote describing only “Qcells storage” is too vague because the product name spans several generations.
Conceptual energy flow. The equipment and connections depend on the installation.
What can it power during an outage?
Use the output for the configuration actually being purchased. The expanded system can have different power and energy limits from the base unit. Ask how the proposed circuits compare with that limit and whether large appliances need load controls. The amount reserved for outages also changes what remains available for normal daily battery use.
A high power rating does not guarantee a long runtime. Backup duration also depends on charge level, reserve settings, appliance use and available solar.
Existing solar and future expansion
Adding storage to a home with panels
An AC-coupled architecture is relevant when considering storage alongside existing solar, but it does not establish blanket compatibility. The existing solar inverter and the control arrangement still need checking. If Qcells panels are already on the roof, identify the inverter separately; the panel logo does not answer the storage question.
Planning for more capacity
Qcells describes an expanded G3 arrangement using the corresponding hub. Plan space and controls around that supported design. Avoid assuming an older CORE battery can be mixed with G3. Record whether an expansion proposal adds both output and energy, and what changes to the electrical installation are required.
The advantages and the trade-offs
Reasons to shortlist it
- AC-coupled design and Q.OMMAND monitoring.
- A defined expansion path with the appropriate Q.HOME HUB G3 arrangement.
- Published 15-year product warranty, subject to its detailed conditions.
What to weigh up
- The expanded system’s output is not the output of one base unit.
- Earlier Q.HOME CORE generations have different specifications and terms.
- Buying Qcells solar panels alone does not establish storage compatibility.
Warranty, monitoring and support
Read the G3 warranty for the relationship between time, energy throughput and capacity performance. The headline term is not a statement that every service expense is included. Ask who handles diagnostic visits and replacement labor. Ensure homeowner access to Q.OMMAND and document any internet or monitoring conditions that affect support.
A useful handover includes your equipment schedule, the applicable warranty documents, homeowner access to monitoring and a named service contact. Ask the installer to demonstrate the operating mode you are buying.
What affects the installed cost?
Compare the complete G3 equipment list and backup scope. A base battery proposal and an expanded hub-based installation are different projects. Include panel work, commissioning and any optional communications equipment. Treat financing and promotional offers separately from the underlying installed hardware and workmanship scope.
| Equipment | Battery quantity, inverter, gateway or transfer equipment and mounting |
|---|---|
| Electrical work | Panel changes, cable routes, protection and backed-up circuits |
| Delivery | Permits, installation, commissioning and monitoring handover |
| Aftercare | Workmanship cover, diagnostic visits and replacement labor |
Is Q.HOME CORE G3 right for your home?
Consider G3 when its base or expanded configuration fits your load plan and the installer can support the Qcells controls. It is particularly important to compare exact generations when shopping between quotes. A clear G3 equipment schedule is more useful than a general claim about the Q.HOME brand.

Your questions, answered
Are the older Q.HOME CORE and G3 interchangeable?
Do not assume so. Use the specifications, compatibility instructions and warranty for the exact generation.
Does one base unit provide the expanded system’s power?
No. Compare the base and expanded configurations separately.
Do Qcells panels guarantee battery compatibility?
No. The inverter, controls and full system design still need checking.
Sources and review method
This is a research-based assessment of published manufacturer information, not a hands-on laboratory test or an owner-review average. Our judgments explain the buying implications of the equipment and its limitations. We do not assign star ratings, invent installation prices or infer local installer availability from a product page.
Check the current US model, configuration and warranty before ordering. Where regional compatibility or terms could not be established, we say so in the review. Shortlist Solar is an installer referral service; a quote request is optional and subject to participating-installer availability.
